YOU ARE INVITED To Attend Lecture on
Movies Sunday.
Mrs. L. C. French, president of
Ossoli, Saturday invited Knoxville
mothers and fathers-—and their
families too—to attend the open
forum on motion pictures to be
held at 3 p. m. Sunday at the
Bijou theater.
Mrs. Philip Speed, of University of Virginia, will be the speaker. "Mrs. Speed is being sent out
by the General Federation of Women's Clubs to campaign for better motion pictures," said Mrs.
French Saturday. "She realizes
the important fact that pictures;
must be made better before the
camera films them—not afterwards, with a censor's scissors.
Opposes Censorship
"Mrs. Speed is opposed to censorship. She dwells on moving
pictures from the point of view of
the mother. She is a mother herself .
"During the war, Mrs. Speed
selected pictures for soldiers in
the army camps.
"We want every parent to attend the meeting Sunday. Our
interests in the movies is constructive not destructive."
Prof. Frank Nelson will give a
musical recital at the meeting.
There is no admission charge.
