WOMEN TO SERVE IN ELECTIONS
Two are Among Appointments for Constitutional Convention Election
OFFICERS CHOSEN
For All Except Two Wards
and Twenty-Four County
Precincts
For the first time In Knoxville's
history women have been appointed
to serve as election officers. They
will assist in holding the constitutional convention election Septem-
ber 4. Miss Willie Cleage has been appointed a clerk of the election in the second ward and Mrs. J.M. Munlyn has been appointed a registrar in the fifteenth ward. Both these women have taken an active part in the interest of women's participation in the campaign and elections. Several women are serving as registrars, in recognition of the recently conferred privilege of suffrage and its vindication in the courts and the appointment of women among the election officials marks the official entrance of women in municipal politics and government in Knoxville. The appointment of election officialis in all except two wards, the sixth and seventh, was announced
this morning by members of the Knox
county election commission. The appolntment of the officers in several
precincts of the county was also
made, but appointments for the coun-
